There have been moments in my life when my faith felt incredibly strong. During those times, I would pray and truly believe I was conversing with God. Reading the Bible brought me excitement, as I felt I could see His plan in everything around me.
Yet, there have also been times when my faith faced significant challenges and didn’t come easily.
There were periods filled with questions. Times when I grew weary. Moments when I prayed but felt unheard. In those overwhelming times, the only words I could muster were, “Lord, help me.”
Reflecting on those experiences, I’ve come to understand something important.
God was with me every step of the way, even during the moments I didn’t grasp.
My Faith Has Taken Different Forms
I once believed that having strong faith meant always feeling assured and confident.
I thought it meant never questioning, never fearing, and always believing that everything would turn out alright. But life has taught me differently. At times, faith appears as confidence. At other times, it reveals itself through tears. Sometimes faith means kneeling in prayer. And there are moments when faith looks like simply rising from bed the next day and deciding to trust God again.
I’ve learned that faith doesn’t mean I never feel afraid. Its about knowing where to direct that fear.
Where uncertainty strikes, I can take my concerns to God. When confusion arises, I can sahre my questions with Him. When I feel swamped with worries, I can lay them at His feet. I dont have to pretend everything is fine. I can approach God just as I am, wit everything laid bare. He welcomes me witout conditions, no matter what I am going through. That’s the beauty of Grace.
Some Seasons Draw Us Closer to God
There are moments in life that make us acutely aware of our need for God. Sometimes, life humbles us. Plans can go awry when we least expect it. Disappointments can arise. Sometimes, life humbles us.
Doors can close unexpectedly. Life can lead us down unexpected paths. While those experiences can be painful, they can also be where we develop a deeper connection with God. I’ve found that during times of uncertainty, I have a choice to make. I can either let fear take control. Or I can turn my gaze toward God. Choosing the latter doesn’t guarantee an immediate sense of peace or a quick change in my situation. However, something shifts inside me when I choose to bring my struggles to Him. I’m reminded that I am not alone in carrying my burdens.
Trusting God Without Understanding
One of the toughest lessons I’ve learned is how to trust God when I don’t have the answers. I’m someone who craves clarity. I like to know what’s next. I prefer having a plan. But God doesn’t always lay out the entire picture for us. Sometimes, He gives just enough light to take the next step, which is often all we need to move forward. That’s it. Just the next step. And that realization hits me: maybe that’s all I require, that simple truth. I don’t need to know every detail. I need to trust the One who has it all under control. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to rely on the Lord instead of solely on our understanding. That’s not always easy to do. But faith has never been about having everything mapped out. Faith is about trusting God even when the path is unclear.
The Waiting Seasons
Ah, the seasons of waiting. I don’t think any of us really enjoy waiting. We pray. We hope. We seek God’s direction. And then… we wait. In those moments, we might find ourselves asking:
“When, God?”
How long will this last?
Did You even hear my prayer?
I’ve asked those same questions. I’ve come to understand that even in our waiting, God is at work—He’s never idle, even when we can’t see His hand. Sometimes He’s preparing us for what’s ahead. Sometimes He’s transforming our hearts before altering our circumstances. And sometimes, the waiting itself teaches us lessons we couldn’t grasp otherwise. Patience. Surrender. Trust. Dependence. Hope. Though the waiting may not be what we desire, God can still use it for our benefit.
And Then Come the Seasons of Gratitude
There are also those beautiful seasons when prayers are answered. When life starts to align, and everything begins to make sense. Those moments of realization about how truly blessed we are are precious gifts. I’ve learned to savor those times. To pause. To reflect. To thank God. To celebrate His goodness.
Sometimes we get so caught up in what we still want from God that we forget to acknowledge His past blessings. I’ve discovered that practicing gratitude shifts my perspective. Instead of always asking, “What’s not there?” I start wondering, “God, what blessings have You already given me?” And suddenly, I see countless blessings that I had previously overlooked
God Is Not Just the God of Good Times
This is something I wish to remember forever. God isn’t just present in the good seasons. He remains steadfast even when life feels tumultuous.
